Registration for Summer Sessions

Coaching Agreement: Summer 2019

The following outlines the way that sessions take place at Brightside Learning:


Drop-in Sessions occur on an 'as needed' basis and include one week of unlimited follow-up; please note that we are not able to guarantee specific time slots for these sessions and that 24 hours' notice is required for cancellations. If less than 24 hours' notice is provided, there will be an administrative fee of $35.00. To cancel a session, please log in to your Online Portal and cancel directly from the calendar. Cost: $80.00 for 50 mins | $50.00 for 30 mins. Invoices are generated on Fridays for the previous week’s drop-in sessions and are payable upon receipt by credit card or e-transfer. All outstanding balances must be completely paid before the next session can be attended.



In the summer, students sign up for one of the following programs:

  • Study Skills for Life (for students entering grades 4-9): Students will learn how to develop the skills, routines and strategies needed to become active & independent learners. Topics covered include: Executive Functions & Growth Mindset | Organization & Healthy HW Habits | Time Management | Becoming an Independent Learner | Active Note-Taking | Tips for the Test | Overcoming Procrastination | Managing Stress & Self-Talk.

  • Study Skills: Take Ten (for students entering grades 10): This program follows our base study skills format but focuses on applying these skills to the grade 10 curriculum. Actual course material, such as historical documents and science test questions, will be used to help students develop interpretation, note-taking and test-taking skills. Topics covered include: Executive Functions & Growth Mindset | Organization & Healthy HW Habits | Active Note-Taking: Hist, Math & Sci | Becoming an independent learner | Understanding Historical Documents | Tips for Writing Ministry Exams | Overcoming procrastination | Managing Stress & Self-Talk.

  • Enhancing Reading & Writing (for students entering grades 4-11): Students will enhance and develop their skills in reading comprehension and essay writing, focusing on the following topics: Active reading comprehension | Finding the main idea | Reading between the lines | Inferencing & creating meaning | Putting information in your own words | Strategies for effective note-taking | Brainstorming & organizing ideas | Developing well-structured essays | Developing strong thesis statements | Editing your own work.

Payment Information for Summer Programs

The cost for weekly sessions is 10% less than drop-in sessions:

  • 8 x 50 minute sessions

  • $72.00 per session

  • Total cost: $576.00


A deposit of $100.00 is due when your registration is processed and the remaining balance is due on June 20th (for the July session) and July 20th (for the August session). Payments may be made by credit card or by e-transfer (sent to Note: there is a fee of $10.00 per day for late payments which must be received before student sessions begin.


After your deposit has been received, we will contact you to book your all of your sessions— once booked, these sessions cannot be changed or transferred.



​Twenty four (24) hours' notice is required to cancel a session unless there is a sudden illness or emergency. In these very rare cases, please let us know about the cancellation as soon as possible. Cancellations that do not comply with this policy will be charged at the regular rate.


One (1) properly cancelled session per month is eligible to be rescheduled and all cancellations that exceed this amount will be lost.


To cancel a session, please log in to your Online Portal and cancel directly from the calendar.


In the unlikely event that your Learning Coach needs to cancel a session, we will let you know as soon as possible and provide you with alternate arrangements.

All students are expected to arrive on time as sessions cannot be extended for late arrivals. If your coach is running late, we will extend the session accordingly.

Please advise us immediately about any cases of lice, the flu, strep throat, bronchitis, gastro or anything else that is contagious so that we can cancel the session. If a student was not well enough to attend camp that day, then they are not well enough to attend their coaching session.


Unfortunately, since summer programming takes place over a very short period of time, we are unable to offer withdrawals or reimbursements once registration and payment are received.

Insurance Information


Receipts for services are placed in an online shared folder (we will send you the link separately) each Friday afternoon. In order to prepare your insurance receipts correctly, please provide us with information about how insurance is divided up (names of people covered, amounts covered for each person, maximum amount per session and maximum amount per year).
