Brightside Scholarship

2019-2020

Our first annual scholarship is now open!

The Brightside Scholarship is a yearly award open to Canadian students from grades five to twelve who are affected by ADHD and/or executive functioning difficulties. 

Scholarship recipients are awarded twelve coaching sessions to be used between January 1 and May 31, 2020.

Brightside Scholarship 2019-2020

The Brightside Scholarship is open to students from grades five to twelve (inclusively), who are

  • Residing in Ontario or Quebec at the time the application is submitted

  • Registered and attending a recognized Canadian educational institution

  • Have not already attended an Initial Consultation session at Brightside Learning

  • Agree to receive services in English

In order for your application to be considered and evaluated, the following documentation must be provided:

  • Psychological assessment report or letter describing executive functioning difficulties (written by a psychologist, medical doctor, or school team member)

  • Copy of most recent report card

  • Student personal statement (describe the current situation, how you think coaching can help you, describe the areas you'd like to improve in and why it's important to you, your personal goals, etc.)

  • Parent letter of a support (describe your child: areas of strength and weakness, how you believe coaching can help, what you have already tried, what makes your child great, your hopes for your child, etc. 

  • Completed application form

Selection Process

  • The deadline to apply is Sunday, December 1st, 2019 at 11:59 pm EST

  • Selected candidates will be contacted for an interview

  • Scholarship winner will be announced on Friday, December 20th, 2019

Terms and Conditions: Applicants are eligible to win twelve, 50-minute coaching sessions at Brightside Learning, to take place in-person at our DDO office or by video. All sessions are subject to Brightside Learning's student coaching contract and applicable policies regarding cancellations, lateness and session format. All sessions must be used only by the scholarship recipient and cannot be transferred. There is no postponement of services, all sessions must be used between January 1 and May 31 2020; if the scholarship recipient chooses to forfeit their sessions, they must do so, in writing, by emailing brightsidelearning@gmail.com, no later than one week after the award announcement is issued. Please note that this scholarship does not hold any monetary or cash value and any sessions not used within the specified time frame shall be lost. The scholarship is not open to students who have already had an initial consultation or who have received services at Brightside Learning. Late and/or incomplete applications shall not be considered.
